Racing betting tips: Sunday March 26
2pts win Issam in 2:07 Exeter at 3/1 (General) – min 1pt win at 9/4
1pt win President Scottie in 5:18 Carlisle at 11/2 (Betfair) – min 4/1
2:07 Exeter
ISSAM is fancied to show that his latest second at this track is better than it looked at the time. Slammed by the unexposed Red Dirt Road over an extended 2m here, he was a clear second best, with Jordan Nailor not at all hard on him when his winning chance had gone.
That followed another good second to Bumpy Johnson over 2½m at Ffos Las, with the third home, Ballydisco dead heating at the same track in midweek.
Issam missed an engagement on Thursday due to testing ground, but he seems effective on all but heavy and the going at Exeter today ought not to be an issue.
In his favour is a return to slightly further, with his sole win to date over hurdles coming at around this trip, and this looks an excellent opportunity for Tom Symonds’s gelding to gain a first win on British soil.
3:17 Exeter
What to say about Wind Tor?
We thought we were clever when spotting her at Hexham in Cheltenham week, and that track promised to suit her given its very stiff finish, but she could not have run worse, and after jumping off handily enough, was quickly on the retreat.
I’m not saying that it would be typical of her to bounce back just as we’ve given up hope, but she did win this race last year from a 13lb higher mark. She wouldn’t, would she?
PRESIDENT SCOTTIE has a bit to find with the other pair who have bumper form, but he looked in need of the experience on his debut at Ayr last month, and is expected to go close for the in-form Nicky Richards yard with plenty of improvement expected.
President Scottie’s half-brothers Rob The Getaway and Global Fame both won bumpers at the first time of asking, and while Richards is less likely to have his bumper runners fully tuned than used to be the case, he does well at the second time of asking, with Coniston George and Luckie Seven both successful in recent weeks on the back of a previous bumper outing.
