Premier League confirm fixture schedule for coronation weekend

The Premier League have confirmed the fixture schedule for the weekend of King Charles III’s coronation.

The new king and The Queen Consort will be coronated in a ceremony at Westminster Abbey on Saturday May 6, 2023.

The Premier League had until now not confirmed whether fixtures would still go ahead on the day, with fans in the dark over plans.

“The Premier League apologises to supporters for the delay in announcing these fixtures and understands their frustrations,” a statement on Friday read.

“Finalising these particular selections took longer than expected due to complications around the scheduling on the weekend of the Coronation of His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Queen Consort.”

A number of fixtures in London have been shifted, with Tottenham vs Crystal Palace the only scheduled top-flight game in the capital on Saturday May 6.

West Ham’s game against Manchester United will be played on the Sunday with Fulham’s home match with Leicester City now taking place on Monday.

Elsewhere, Liverpool’s clash with Brentford will now kick off at 5.30pm on Saturday, rather than earlier in the day.
